    Responsibilities & Requirements

    Job Summary

    The Dental Assistant is a vital member of the dental health team. Working closely and under the clinical direction of the Lead Doctor, the Dental Assistant guides patients throughout their procedures and strives to provide excellence in patient care and a collaborative team environment. Educates patients on procedures to ensure a positive patient experience and is responsible for clinical support activities including managing patient records and documenting treatment plants.


    Responsibilities of the Dental Assistant

    • Assist the dentist in the clinical treatment of patients to include greeting, seating, dismissing patients, providing patients with information and contacting patients
    • Pass hand instruments, prepare restorative materials, expose and take digital images, maintain dental equipment, carry out infection control, sterilization, and waste management activities, including ensuring the availability and use of protective wear
    • Enter and modify patient's treatment plans in the computer system
    • Explain treatment cost, billing out procedures, collect patient balance

    Qualifications of the Dental Assistant

    • Dental Assistant experience required, or completion from an accredited Dental Assistant program, CDA preferred
    • High School graduate or equivalent
    • Effective interpersonal skills to maintain rapport with patients, dentists, other staff members and the community
    • Compliance with state dental practices requirements (e.g., x-ray proficiency, OSHA training)
